I push charcoal hard in both directions, deep blacks and smudged grays, and I erase as much as I draw. My photography background shows up in how I think about light. My sculpture background shows up in how I think about weight and space. These drawings bring both together, with a tonal range and a feeling I couldn’t reach with a camera.
