Sculpture extends my exploration of form, structure and transformation into three dimensions. Working in welded steel, bronze and copper, I investigate how material, mass and negative space can reveal relationships between strength, balance and change.
Although photography remains central to my practice, sculpture allows ideas to develop through physical construction rather than observation. Building, welding and casting become ways of discovering forms that could not exist within the frame of a photograph.
The sculptures share the same underlying concerns found throughout my photographic work: revealing hidden structures, transforming familiar materials and exploring the relationship between physical processes and visual perception.
